half window...vaulted ceilings...bay windows...arched window...I need to work with all of this to make a window treatment...and there is a light that shines from the street into this bedroom all night long...so we need to darken it too...and I need help!! So, we bought this this place. A fixer upper. We signed on it the day I went into labor. :) My husband has done and incredible job with everything (with the help of a lot of wonderful people). I've hesitated to post pictures and tell about this project as it's been one looooong project and is still a daily work in progress. But I'm to the point of decorating a bit. And I want help with my ideas! And I thought, my blogger friends will help! I have some pretty talented friends. In this way, you can also see the new place...it's been fun...please give me your ideas, advice, even criticism, and I'll have some fun decorating and post the finished pics too!
..okay, so this is a trivial item, but should the valance hang with the line of the ceiling or the floor, slope or straight? Any other input on this tough-to-work-with window?

Oh- It's too bad I'm not one of your talented blogger friends. I like the lower pictures with the valance bottome even with the floor. But again, I'm not good with decorating, so I could be wrong. Since you are very creative and artsy, I would trust your own instincts more than mine :)
I like the bottom one best too, but I am not good at decorating. That is a good question for Grandpa Bay.
I like the bottom one, with the angle. The top one almost looks too small.
yes def the bottom pic! me and joe think that one looks cooler cuz it is even with the blue and white paint, it looks really cool that way, maybe the top one is just too unevenish?? i like the pretty green grass outside:)
Personally, I think it should line up with the floor. It also lines up with your molding and painting of the walls. It gives the room a cohesive (sp?) look whereas the top one kinda makes you feel like you're leaning ;) Exciting about the house! We'll have to post pictures of our fixer upper soon too!
My two cents... What if you forget the valance and just have long, darker drapes all the way from the top down to (almost) the floor - and then pull them aside for light? It would elongate the corner if that is what you are looking for. I think I would however, match the floor for the bottom hem if you do a valance.
Okay, I'm getting great feedback, interesting too because I probably would have gone with the top picture! See how I don't know much about all of this...Thanks for feedback!!
I'm with Marci-The designers would just run the window treatment from top to bottom, with no angles. If you are wanting to minimize the look of the slant, painting it all white around the weird ceiling angles will be easier on the eye and make any irregularities in the drapes less noticeable. good luck-I can't wait to see pictures!!
